The church is not a building, it is the people. This is a common statement among many churches. Two BBFI churches have recently put that statement into practice. Graceway Baptist Church of Springfield, MO, pastored by Bob Stephenson, sent a team to Louisiana to assist BBFI church planter, Chris Housewright, who sustained damage to his home.

Grace Church of Independence, MO, pastored by Joey Candillo, had a special service on Labor Day weekend where the “Church left the building” and they served their local community on Sunday morning. Some served at a local laundry mat, others provided free oil changes, others delivered cookies to fire stations, others cleaned up lawns, and others stayed at the church to write letters to military servicemen.

They can’t provide these acts of love on other days? Sunday is still the Lord’s day when the body is called to assemble. Change days, in my opinion…
