BOSTON, Mass. — Boston Baptist College celebrated its 2026 commencement exercises on Wednesday, May 20, marking both the graduation of five students and the beginning of a significant milestone year as the college prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The commencement ceremony was held at the historic Old North Church in Boston, where graduates and guests gathered despite record-breaking temperatures.
John Reilly, chairman of the Board of Trustees and pastor of Beacon Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan, noted the significance of the occasion, stating, “Commencement marked the beginning of an exciting year as Boston Baptist College celebrates its 50th year.”
As part of the anniversary celebration, the college welcomed Jim Edge, former vice president of Boston Baptist College, as a special guest. Edge shared highlights from the school’s history and offered prayer for the 2026 graduating class.
The commencement address was delivered by Bill Smith, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Smith has maintained a longstanding relationship with the college through his service as a supporting pastor, former trustee, and professor. Drawing from his years of ministry experience and involvement with the college, Smith challenged graduates to remain faithful to the work of the Lord as they enter their next season of ministry and service.
Following the address, Boston Baptist College presented Smith with its Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his faithful support and contributions to the institution over many years.
Founded in 1976, Boston Baptist College has spent five decades preparing men and women for ministry throughout New England and beyond. The commencement ceremony served not only as a celebration of the accomplishments of this year’s graduates but also as a reminder of the college’s ongoing mission to train laborers for the harvest.
