Hutchinson, KS — Westside Baptist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas, pastored by Tim Adrian, celebrated a significant milestone on Sunday, April 29, 2026, with a grand opening and dedication service for its newly remodeled facilities.
This is the fourth major building program in the past ten years. The updated entryway serves as the final major component of the overall vision. This final project, like the other improvements, was paid for in cash and focused on redesigning the front entry, creating a more welcoming and functional space for members and guests.
Adrian emphasized the importance of the project, noting both practical and outward-facing goals.
“It was important for us to complete this remodel to allow more space for families and attenders to gather before and after the service,” Adrian said. “But also to help those who see the building know it is a church. For many years, people thought it was a post office or some other corporate building.”
The dedication service centered on the spiritual significance of the church’s mission. Associate Pastor Nathan Foltz preached from the book of Colossians, emphasizing Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of the church. Adrian followed with a message from the book of Ezra, highlighting the importance of having a place set apart to meet with God.
The service also included a time of recommitment, as Westside Baptist Church renewed its commitment to giving honor and glory to God Almighty, the study and explanation of Scripture for discipleship, and the urging of the Gospel to the World.
Several special guests were recognized for their contributions to the project and the church’s history. Among them were the architect who designed the remodel, Jacob Fredrickson, the project manager who has been part of the church since infancy, and Tom Elliot, who provided a new cornerstone and helped refurbish the original cornerstone from the 1949 building.
Additional contributions included a custom cross designed and built by Scott Jule, and the presence of Hutchinson City Councilman Darrin Truan, representing the local community. Former pastor Jim Burn also participated in the service, offering the prayer of dedication.
The day marked not only the completion of a building project, but a renewed commitment to the church’s mission and future ministry in Hutchinson.
