Tyler, TX

April 29, 2018 Central Baptist Church of Tyler, TX celebrated its 85thanniversary. The day featured recognition of several church members, testimonies and a video showcasing the history of the church. Highlights of the day included an attendance of 570, twelve following the Lord in baptism, and ten new individuals joining the church. Kim Beckham has served as pastor since 1987.

The church, originally known as Tabernacle Baptist Church, began in 1933 with 34 charter members. The church had several pastors between 1933 and 1941 when it called John Rawlings as pastor. Under Rawlings leadership the church grew extensively, changed its name to Central Baptist and in 1950 began associating with the newly formed Baptist Bible Fellowship International. Charlie Dyer followed Rawlings and pastored until health concerns forced him to retire. Duane Pringle served as pastor from 1953 to 1982.
