BBFI APEX Church Planter Spring Assessment

Granbury, TX

Over the last decade, there has been a renewed emphasis and focus on church planting in the BBFI. This is good news for the Fellowship. The BBFI was its healthiest when there was a strong emphasis on church planting. With this renewed focus by the BBFI comes more church planters and a need for assessment, training, and coaching.

The BBFI APEX Church Planter Spring Assessment was held in Granbury, TX, at Granbury Baptist Church on Monday, March 6, through Wednesday, March 8, 2023. There were four church planting couples assessed and are awaiting results. These church planters are at various stages in their churches and represent the states of Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The assessment team consists of Terry Kizer, Director of APEX, Randy Adams, Lonnie Lehrman, Lonnie and Disty Short, Todd Witte, Chris Kitts, Bradley Speer, Greg Baxter, Wade Gates, and Randy Harp. Other local pastors are included to help evaluate preaching ability and used to form a “Shark Tank” panel. Also present to help and be an encouragement at the Spring Assessment was the BBFI’s 3rd Vice-president, Randy Abell.

There are several areas evaluated during the assessment, including the call and character of the couple, their entrepreneurial leadership skills, their relational, emotional, physical, and spiritual health, their communication skills, and their ministry models.
