September 29 through October 1, Aurora Baptist Temple hosted a weekend event with special guest Ted Dibiase, “The Million Dollar Man,” a World Wrestling Federation Hall of Fame inductee. Nathan Burch, pastor of Aurora Baptist, stated, “Our goal was to reach those who were fans of Ted or wrestling in general who do not attend church nor would come to a church for any other reason.” Almost 800 attended the three-day event and six people accepted Christ.
Dibiase spent 30 years in the wrestling industry as one of the “bad guys” breaking kids hearts by beating the crowd favorites, typically cheating along the way. His character was focused on money, fame, and personal glory. His real life looked very similar until he almost lost his marriage and family. Dibiase discovered a relationship with Jesus and surrendered his life to preaching the Gospel and sharing his story to help men and families focus on what really matters.
