Get to Know … Michael Haley

Fifth in a series introducing the new BBFI national officers.

Michael Haley is the treasurer of the BBFI. Take a few minutes and get to know him a little better.

  1. Where did you grow up? What is your favorite childhood memory?
I was born in Pueblo, Colorado but most of my childhood was spent in Arkansas City, Kansas before moving to Sweetwater, Texas when I was 15.
One of my favorite memories was catching a foul ball at a Kansas City Royals game. I loved summers where all the neighborhood kids spent all day everyday playing some kind of sport together.
  2. When/where did you get saved? When/where did you surrender to ministry?
I was saved at my home church in Kansas. Tim Lee was preaching that night and I finally laid down my pride and put my faith in Christ.
I surrendered to ministry after my senior year of high school. Jamie Ragel was our camp speaker at Singing Hills Baptist Youth Camp, and God spoke to me that week through Jamie.
  3. When/where did you go to Bible college? What is your favorite college memory.
I went to BBC for my undergrad.
Meeting my wife was the best thing that happened to me while I was in college. I have a lot of great memories playing soccer, basketball and in the East/West game. I earned my master’s through Liberty Universities online program.
  4. Prior to your current church, where have you served in ministry? (What role at each place?)
Palmetto Avenue Baptist church in Sanford, Florida – Youth Pastor. (’95-96(
Park Hill Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado – Youth Pastor. (96-’03)
First Baptist Church in New Castle, Delaware – Youth Pastor. (’03-’08)
  5. Where do you currently serve? (How long, ministry roles, etc.)
Cross Creek Church in Fountain, Colorado – Lead Pastor. (’08-Present)
  6. Share about your family?
My wife and I have been married for 24 years. We met while attending BBC. Most of our families met their spouses while attending BBC as well.
We have three children, Derek (20), Dustin (9) and Makena (4). My wife is definitely my #1 supporter and helper in ministry.
  7. Where is your favorite place to vacation?
Since I live near the mountains I like to go to the beach for vacation.
  8. What are your favorite hobbies?
Jeeping in the mountains, hiking, basketball.
  9. What is your all-time favorite book (other than the Bible)? Favorite book read within the past year?
Experiencing God might be my all-time favorite book simply because I went through it at a very crucial time in my life.
The Tale of 3 Kings is my favorite one I’ve read in the last year.
  10. What has God taught you recently?
God is constantly showing me that He can use anyone who is humble and willing. The best ability you have to offer the kingdom of God is your availability
